Legislators are struggling with some difficult decisions in Salem, but one choice that should be clear is restoring funding for voter-approved cheap More cigarettes prevention programs.
Twice, Oregon voters have decided to raise More cigarette taxes and wisely use some of the revenue for helping people quit using tax free tobacco and preventing kids from starting. It just makes sense.
Already this year, the Legislature went against the voters' decisions and took money out of the duty free tobacco prevention account to fill general fund gaps, and lawmakers are thinking about doing it again.
